Questions

NRI FAQs

Can an NRI invest in Indian mutual funds?
Yes. NRIs can invest in Indian mutual fund schemes through an NRE or NRO bank account, after completing KYC and the FATCA / CRS declarations. Some AMCs do not accept investors resident in certain countries, including the USA and Canada.
Which account should I invest from — NRE or NRO?
Both can be used. NRE funds can be repatriated freely, while NRO funds are subject to RBI limits and tax rules. Your choice depends on where your money sits and when you may want to move it abroad.
Do I need to visit India to start?
Often not. Many AMCs and platforms accept documents or in-person verification done abroad. The exact process depends on the AMC and your country, and we will tell you what applies in your case.
Does MF India charge NRIs any fee?
MF India is an AMFI Registered Mutual Fund Distributor and earns commission from AMCs. It does not charge advisory fees to clients.

Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme related documents carefully. NRI investments are subject to RBI, FEMA, SEBI and AMC rules, which may change from time to time.
